In 1994 Barbara Hano founded a group to bring together graduates from her alma mater, Wellesley College, who were living in Paris. Beginning in her cramped home office, the Paris Alumni Network grew to include graduates from other schools who were permanent or temporary residents in France. Although PAN’s initial goal was to provide professional networking, with its membership targeted to women, Americans and university graduates, PAN gradually enlarged its scope to men and women, as well as English-speaking graduates from other countries, to create a diversified community. PAN has been on a roll ever since, adding events to its calendar, and attracting members interested in all the activities the organization has to offer. The handful of dedicated members who got PAN off the ground have been joined in the last 20 years of its history by over 400 members from different backgrounds contributing their experience, talents and enthusiasm to this unique and exciting adventure.
